At GIBS Business School, there is a commitment to providing a structured and supportive placement process for all students so that there will be an opportunity for all students to prepare adequately and have the right career options available to them.

The placement process has many components:

• Dedicated Placement Cell - This is a team that will be dedicated to managing all areas of student training and recruitment.
• Pre-Placement Activities- Students are provided with ongoing training on aptitude, group discussions and interview techniques/guidelines.
• Resume Building – Students are provided with tips, guidance and tools to create a professional and impactful resume.
• Mock Interviews and GD Practice – Ongoing mock interviews will give students confidence to perform well during interviews.
• Industry Interaction/Corporate Connections - Collaboration with companies will improve the overall success rate for placements.
• Internships - Mandatory internships provide real life exposure to meet Employers needs.
• Skill Development - The goal of these workshops is to improve communication, business and leadership skills.
• Guest Lectures and Corporate Presentations - Direct learning from industry speakers.
• Personalized Career Guidance - One on one mentoring on all aspects of career development.
• Ongoing Campus Interviews - Multiple organisations visit throughout the year to recruit students, across multiple industry sectors.

The new GIBS Business School Campus includes comprehensive and modern facilities to enhance excellence in both academics and all-around student development. These include smart classrooms, seminar halls, conference rooms, auditorium space for interactive learning and corporate events, as well as an extensive library, digital resources, computer labs, innovation and research centers, and campus-wide high-speed wi-fi. In addition, the GIBS campus provides separate hostels for boys and girls with quality living conditions, hygienic cafeteria/mess dining facilities, transportation services, and comprehensive security systems. At Global Institute of Business Studies (GIBS Bangalore), entrance exams like:

• Common Admission Test (CAT)

• Management Aptitude Test (MAT)

• Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)

• Common Management Admission Test (CMAT)

are important… but not everything.

They first check your score or percentile. If it's decent, that's good. You don't always need a super high score. They just want to see that you have basic aptitude.

But that's not the only thing they look at.

They also see:

• Your past marks (10th, 12th, degree)

• How you speak and present yourself in the interview

• Your confidence and attitude

• Any work experience or extra activities

So basically, even if your entrance score is average, you still have a good chance if you perform well in the interview and show positive energy.

In simple words — GIBS looks at your overall personality, not just your exam marks. 

GIBS assesses applicants through their personalities and overall potential, not just through academic performance. Under the conditions established by each candidate's respective entrance exam scores and previous academics, GIBS also takes into consideration communication abilities, confidence, demonstration of leadership ability, and clearly defined career objectives using group discussion and personal interview.

Analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, teamwork, flexible approach to situations, and a positive attitude are also substantial factors in the admission decision at GIBS. Candidates who demonstrate initiative, are willing to learn, and possess good interpersonal relations will receive added consideration. All candidates will be selected not only based upon academic ability as indicated by prior study but on the candidate's mindset and motivation to be successful within the competitive corporate world.

In my experience, classes are structured well, so I focus properly during lectures and complete assignments on time. I don't keep work pending. That really helps during exams.

For placements, preparation starts early here. We regularly have aptitude practice, mock interviews, presentations, and soft skills sessions. Because it's part of our routine, I never felt like I had to suddenly start preparing at the last minute.

Along with that, I also take part in club activities and events. Honestly, those activities helped me improve my confidence and communication skills. I usually manage extracurriculars after classes or during event days, without affecting my studies.

Academic faculty provide students with a solid foundation through core management principles, frameworks and academic research based on academic teachings. In contrast, industry practitioner and visiting faculty members provide students with useful, practical information relating to daily operations within their respective corporations, including current market conditions; case studies; and examples of how companies operate in relation to each other, etc.

This balance between both academic and industry faculty allows students to learn both the meaning of what type of action or behaviour is involved and how those actions and behaviours are used within the context of business. Industry faculty will typically share with students examples of the types of real problems they have faced and the types of decisions they have made, and what type of expectations they have for employees working at their companies. This will help create an engaging classroom environment through shared experiences; thus providing students with an integrated learning experience of theory through practice, and as a result, prepare them to perform with confidence in their new corporate careers.
