IELTS score of 6.5 is the minimum required for the majority of German universities. However, a score of 6.0 is also acceptable at several German colleges. Your CGPA is adequate for admission to German institutions and is rather excellent in this regard.

For undergraduate admissions, Northwestern University accepts the test results of IELTS / TOEFL / Duolingo. As such, there is no minimum score required by Northwestern University, still, the competitive applicants must show a high level of English language proficiency and typically score in the high range on all sections of the exams that the university accepts. An IELTS band score between 5.0 and 5.5 is considered a modest score. And will not make you eligible to apply to Tier I universities abroad.
