Both are good but in my opinion, FIITJEE is better than VMC for the JEE Mains exam preparation because FIITJEE provide quality JEE notes with quality faculty members.

For NIT, I would suggest scoring atleast more than 90% to be in safe zone. Mechanical is usually filled up fast.

I would suggest joining a coaching if you haven't already. You will have to study for atleast 6 hours a day to cover the whole course thoroughly. Then you should solve old papers and sample papers regularly to test yourself.

Yes, you can attempt JEE in 2019 depending on your category. If you have not attempted JEE in 2018, then you are totally eligible even if you are general category student.
