Hi SITARAM JI,
For admission in a bachelor's degree, you need to complete 10+2 examination with science subject such as physics, maths and chemistry.The duration for this course is 4 years.For admission in top colleges like IITs, NITs, IIITs , Bits Pilani, DTU you have to clear JEE (Main) , JEE (Advanced) , BITSAT.
There are also some state and all India level entrance exams after clearing them you also have chance for good colleges.
Few of them are:
KARNATAKA CET(Only for Karnataka Students)
UPSEE,
CET,
COMEDK,
EAMCET( Only for Andhra Pradesh Students),
KEAM,
GPET,
etc.
Also, some engineering institutes conduct their own entrance examination

Evaluate your confidence level and see by how much margin you could'nt get through this time and if you can excel in the next year exam. If you feel good at all thse aspects then drop out for a year, otherwise a better course of action would be to get admission in which ever Engg college you are able to get. The later focusw on excelling in your studies and doing post graduation form a college of higher repute.

Dear Ketki,
Joint entrance examination (JEE) is an entrance exam for seeking admissions in IIT's , NIT's, and various other reputed colleges. One can also give other entrance examinations like:
UPSEE,
TNEA,
SRMEEE,
MT-CET,
COMEDK,
KCET,
EAMCET,
MPPEPT,
KEAM,
GPET,
BITSAT etc.
JEE Mains and Advance:
If you are planning to do architecture, then you can apply for JEE Main (paper 2) which is conducted for B. Arch only.
As for JEE Advance is considered, it is conducted for admissions to IIT's for B.Tech programs and not B. Arch.

Hi Santosh,
JEE(Main) is only for admission to undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments which accept JEE(Main) score for admission in engineering colleges in their state like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland etc.
There are also some other engineering entrance examinations in India:
UPSEE,
ASSAM CEE
BITSAT
COMEDK UGET
SRMEEE
VITEEE
MANIPAL UGET
KCET,
EAMCET etc.
After clearing above exam , you also have chance to get good government/private engineering colleges.
