Its pleasant know your desire to resume studies after these long years. Its very creditable. First you have to decide on the university from which you want to do research. Then you may have to appear for entrance exam for acceptance of your candidature for PhD. Once this is done then you can search for a suitable guide and begin!

PhD is the short form of Doctor of Philosophy and to be eligible, the students are required to have completed their Master's degree. Aspirants need to possess a valid master's degree to be eligible to pursue a PhD course. Candidates can pursue a PhD programme in any stream. In a PhD course, aspirants need to select a topic or a subject and do in-depth research on it and answer any queries related to the topic/ subject. 

The PhD duration in India is between 3 years and 5 years that depends on your research area and institute requirements (if any).

The total number of seats available for the Alagappa University PhD courses is 29 seats. Each of the affiliated college has a specific seat intake: Mentioned below is the college-wise seat intake:

  • Sethupathi Government Arts College - 13 seats
  • Arumugam Pillai Seethai Ammal College - 3 seats

There are a total of 29 seats for the PhD programmes in the Alagappa University colleges. The maximum seats are available at the Sethupati Government Arts College - 13 seats. This seat count is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative. Seat allotment for the course is done based on merit in the entrance exam.

Candidates seeking admission should first check out the minimum eligibility criteria. The aspirants with a valid master's degree can apply for admission. Eligible candidate can apply through the official website of the university/respective affiliated college. Further, the Alagappa University PhD admission is done based on merit in the university entrance exam. In addition, scores of UGC NET are also accepted by the university.

Alagappa University PhD application form are generally released in July month of the admission year. The application deadline is August as per the past years' data. The university shall release 2024 application form soon for PhD courses.
