Once the IIITDM Kurnool PhD application process is over, the admission committee begins the screening process. All the registered candidates are evaluated based on their academic record, work experience, etc. Further, those who are shortlisted are required to take a written test.
Once the test is over, the institute may also conduct an interview process for further evaluation of students. After that, the institute releases a merit with the names of the students suited for the programme.

IIITDM Kurnool PhD admissions are done based on students performance in the written test conducted at the institute. On the day of the test, candidates are required to produce the original certificates of the following documents:
- Class 10 marksheet
- Class 12 marksheet
- Migration certificate
- School leaving certificate/transfer certificate
- UG marksheets
- UG degree
