Yes, the university requires PTE as one of its entry requirement criteria. However, students can submit to another English proficiency test other than PTE. However, IELTS, PTE is a highly taken English Language test worldwide. Check out the below table for the required scores:
English Language Proficiency Test | Minimum score |

IELTS Academic | A Standard score of 6.0 with no band below 5.5 and with a higher score of 7.0 with no band score below 7. |
TOEFL iBT | An overall standard score of 87, Minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 17 in speaking, and 19 in writing. And the University also has a higher overall score of 95, with writing 24, listening 22, reading 24, and speaking 25. |
Pearson PTE Academic UKVI | Overall score of 62, a minimum of 60 in each band. And the university has a higher overall score of 76 with no band score less than 76. |
Note: The English Language Test should not be more than 2 years old on the start date of the student’s chosen course.

International students require to demonstrate their proficiency in the English language because English is the mode of instruction at the University of Leicester. Along with PTE Leicester University accepts many other global English language tests such as IELTS, TOEFL and Duolingo. University of Leicester accepts English Language proficiency scores for all international UG and PG applicants which are given as follows:

Yes, international students whose first language is not English are required to prove their proficiency in the English language. International students can prove their proficiency through IELTS and other English language tests such as TOEFL, DET and PTE. The minimum University of Saskatchewan IELTS requirement besides other tests for international students are:
