You may not get lateral admission but you can get admission in the 1st-year of any branch since Diploma is considered as equivalent to 12th standard.

Please have a re-look at your marks. Why obsession with engineering? I sincerely advise you to go to career counsellor and seek guidance from him.

Fundamentally, all auto companies produce. Hence, they require mechanical or production engineers. Automobile engineering is required in case you plan to work in design Department.

You are advised to choose B.Tech Automobile or Mechanical Engineering to become an automobile designer. You can choose your specialisation after the level of M.Tech.

If you are not good at Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, don't go for engineering. If good, then decide first the interest and go. Trades are not chosen on the basis of difficulty. Regards.

Yes, it is a demanding branch in government and private sectors. However, you have to choose any good college including faculty, placement, environment, affiliations, etc. You must note that with your hard work to pass all the semester without any backlogs, you have ample of jobs in government sectors awaiting.
