Yes, it is hard to get into Dartmouth College, as the institution is extremely competitive with an acceptance rate stands of merely 6%. Yes, Dr. Seuss, an American children's author and cartoonist is an alumni of Dartmouth College. Originally named as Theodor Seuss Geisel, he adopted the name Dr. Seuss as an undergraduate at Dartmouth College. He pursued a BA degree at Dartmouth and graduated in 1925. It was this college where he joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the humor magazine Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern, eventually rising to the rank of editor-in-chief. In 1955, Dartmouth College awarded Geisel (Dr. Seuss) an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters.

Yes, Dartmouth College has a prestigious museum named Hood Museum of Art, which first opened its doors in 1985. Dartmouth's collection of the oldest and the largest of any college or university in the country were housed under one roof to be made available to faculty, students, and the public, and that is how this museum was formed. Initially, the founder of Dartmouth College - Eleazar Wheelock suggested that the college be called Wentworth in honor of the governer. It was Governor John Wentworth who promised Wheelock (a Congregational minister from Windham, Connecticut, a grant of a township to build the college. However, the governor chose to name it after his friend the Earl of Dartmouth from England.

Dartmouth University was established in 1769, and is the last institution to receive its charter from the British Crown. A Yale University graduate, Eleazar Wheelock (a Congregational minister from Windham, Connecticut) is the founder of Dartmouth College. It was founded "for the education and instruction of youth of the Indian tribes in this land. English Youth, and any others." Wheelock's relationship with Mohegan Indian Samson Occom is believed to serve as the foundation for the establishment of the college. Occom played a key role in raising the money required to establish the college.

Dartmouth College was founded by Eleazar Wheelock  (a Congregational minister from Connecticut), in 1769. He established the College "for the education and instruction of youth of the Indian tribes in this land. English Youth, and any others." One of Wheelock's the earliest students,  Samson Occom, was a Mohegan Indian who played a key role in raising the money required to establish the college.

It is interesting to note that Eleazar Wheelock is a graduate of Yale University.
