IELTS and PTE are English proficiency tests, but IELTS is trusted and accepted by more countries and universities than PTE Academic. That makes IELTS the obvious choice for test takers worldwide. In 2023, IELTS launched IELTS One Skill Retake across the world.neither of the tests is easier than the other. However, IELTS is more accessible and has an easier exam structure.

There are no specific eligibility criteria based on nationality, background, or education level. Anyone aiming to demonstrate their English proficiency for studying abroad, immigration, or professional purposes can take the PTE test.Candidates must be at least 16 years old to take the PTE Academic test. Before taking the test, candidates under 18 must have a parental consent document signed by a parent or guardian. This consent form can be found on the official website. There is no eligibility requirement for the PTE General exam.

The PTE Academic exam takes about two hours to complete in total. The three primary components of the test are Speaking and Writing, Reading, and Listening.
