Internships represent a critical component of the GIBS Business School learning experience as well as a critical component of placement for students. Almost all students who are eligible to participate will obtain an internship opportunity through the GIBS Internships Office. Reports indicate that around 99% of students complete their programme with an internship experience as part of that programme, indicating a significant focus on practical experience and integration into industry.

In terms of the companies participating in the 2025 internship drive, more than 80 – 90 firms from a variety of industries such as IT, finance, FMCG, consulting, logistics, retail and analytics provided students with exposure to real-world business conditions prior to the student's final job placement. Furthermore, the firms represented at the internship drive ranged from long-established corporations to the newest, most innovative start-up companies.

For GIBS to be able to enroll students for the 2025 Karnataka PGCET, the last round of admission to GIBS Business School was approximately 29,459 for the general All India category (AI quota) and final rank (the last round). Typically, the number of candidates who will be able to qualify for admission into GIBS for MBA/PGDM courses will be those who were able to secure a valid rank in the 2025 Karnataka PGCET greater than or equal to approximately 29,459 in the first round of counselling provided within the State of Karnataka.

It is also worth noting that cut-off ranks will fluctuate annually, based on the number and type of applicants (number of students applying for admission), and how many applicants were placed in each category (GM/OBC/SC/ST) during the counselling process, as well as whether a particular applicant made it into the last round of admission. Therefore, this reference number may be of assistance during the 2025 admission cycle.

The campus of GIBS Business School is about 10 acres in total area and is intentionally laid out to provide a suitable environment for education, student life, and recreation. A large part of the campus has been allocated to offer state-of-the-art facilities for educational purposes, which include modern classrooms, digital laboratories, libraries, auditoriums, seminar rooms and creativity/innovation rooms to support practical learning from hands-on experience. Boys' and girls' hostels are separated from each other and include dining, study and living facilities that are designed to provide comfortable accommodation. There are many areas of the campus devoted to recreation and wellness, including sports fields, indoor games, open green areas, an amphitheatre and areas designated for yoga, culture and student events. Overall, the entire 10-acre campus was designed to allow students to focus on their studies while having the opportunity to participate in both hostel life and extracurricular activities along with opportunities to grow personally.

GIBS Business School has implemented a well-structured, holistic, and ongoing placement support system, which begins on the first day of the student's first year, and continues throughout the entire duration of their studies and until they achieve final placements. This supports and equips students with all of the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to be prepared for job interviews when companies come to campus to recruit graduates.

Career Orientation and Skills Assessment take place within the first week of the first semester and are conducted by the GIBS Placement Team, who help students develop a clear understanding of what is expected from them by the corporate sector, set short- and long-term goals, as well as begin identifying the types of jobs they want to apply for.

While in their first year of study, students focus on developing core competencies required to succeed in the business world. Using workshops, tests, group discussion, and presentations to facilitate this learning process, students will develop the following skills: Communication, fundamentals of Business, Analytical thinking, Resume writing, Personality development.

In addition, first-year students will also have the opportunity to attend guest lectures and industry speakers, which will expand their knowledge and understanding of the corporate sector and how it operates.

The focus of second-year students will begin to shift to more practical application of previously learned skills and knowledge, and towards preparing to work in a corporate environment (i.e., corporate readiness). Practical application of their learning will occur through additional domain training sessions, live projects, summer internships, mock interviews (weekly or bi-weekly), and individual coaching from their mentor that provides student-specific feedback on each student's strengths and weaknesses. The placement cell also works closely with each student, as they prepare for their job search, and coordinate pre-placement activities, interview schedules/preparation, and final offer processes for all students.

From start to finish in the program, students will have professional support via individualised career advising, cycle of feedback post-evaluation and recruiters from various industries so that they can find jobs that match their career goals. As a whole, the programme consists of early preparation, ongoing guidance and targeted support so that students will feel confident and be successful in the competitive job placement market.

The GIBS College makes ethics, social responsibility, and sustainability a part of their school culture in a way that is both practical and nice for the students. They don't just teach ethics, they practice it through academic integrity, disciplined campus life, openness of systems, and extremely value-based faculty mentoring. They constantly encourage students to make ethical choices based on case studies, real-world projects, and in-class discussions. GIBS promotes social responsibility through visits to NGO's, outreach to communities, social internships, rural immersion, blood donation camps, and awareness campaigns so that students are connected to real-world social issues.Green initiatives around campus, going paperless, energy conservation, and conversations about sustainable business models in academic and industry sessions integrate sustainability into their daily lives. Through events like leadership presentations and student interactions, GIBS ensures students are prepared to be responsible, ethical and socially aware professionals when they graduate and enter the world of work.

GIBS combines academic work and holistic development to facilitate the entire development of the student beyond the normal classroom. The institution offers a strong academic curriculum, but it also offers opportunities for students to participate in industry projects, internships, case studies, and guest speakers, allowing students to gain practical experience.
