It's quite tough to prepare for JEE Mains and at same time study on first year. In addition, many colleges simply refuse to give TC. You should have taken drop of year.

MP has opted to go with JEE Mains as criteria for admission in engineering colleges. You will be given state rank as well as AIR. However, in your case, state rank will decide your admission.

Thapar is nationally recognized college and you need much more than what you mentioned to get admission in that college. With such good marks in 12th, what happened in JEE Mains?

Firstly, beware, if you are in private college then they will not give TC unless you pay fees of all four years. Secondly, it's quite tough. But as the saying goes 'Where there is will, there is a way'.

Cut-offs for last year was 100 for general category candidates. This year, it's not expected to change. But this only enables you to appear for JEE Advanced. Try to score more than 250 for seat in NIT.

Do not worry. Ask yourself a question, with such low marks in JEE Mains, is it worth going for engineering? I would advise you to look for commerce or humanities and then go for MBA or specialised PG diploma.

Procedure for JEE Mains has not changed except that you have to provide Aadhar number while applying. Major change is in procedure of rankings. Now, marks of 12th will not be counted.

It's not worthwhile to do engineering in any college. It is perhaps better to take drop of one year, prepare really well and see where you stand. Have faith in yourself first. Dream big.
Best wishes.
