MSU flooded with online applications
Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) of Baroda has received more than 4,000 online applications this academic session. The newly introduced online admission was made mandatory from this year onwards.
Aspirants from distant and varied regions such as Andaman and Nicobar Islands, North-Eastern belt, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir and Kanyakumari have applied for several programmes. The varsity is yet to open admission for traditional courses. The numbers are expected to swell tremendously after online admissions are opened for courses by Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Commerce from May 21, 2013 onwards.
By Tuesday evening, MSU had already received 4,389 registration forms of which 2,719 were confirmed forms and 1,887 were the paid (reconciled forms), reported a national daily.
So far maximum applications have been received for programmes like Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelors of Computer Applications (BCA), Masters of Social Work (MSW) and Bachelor of Law (LLB). BBA programme has received 931 registrations followed by 589 registrations by BCA programme.
The online process increases the transparency of the entire admission system, claimed an authority. With details of every candidate available, regional education trends can be predicted, thereby increasing diversity at the campus.
