Q:   How many nursing colleges are there in Kolkata?

Kolkata have numerous educational institutions in the city and have ample opportunities for students who wish to pursue Nursing. Kolkata has 87 nursing colleges. Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for nursing colleges in Kolkata?

A: 

Students can choose from two-course options for graduate-level (duration – four years) - BSc (Basic) and BSc (Post-Basic), postgraduate level MSc in Nursing (duration – 18 months to three years) and PhD in Nursing (tw0 to three years). Eligibility criteria for the two is mentioned below:

  • BSc (Basic)– Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and should be medically fit.
  • BSc (Post-Basic) –Candidates must have passed Class 12 in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). One has to get a certificate in GNM (General Nursing Midwifery) and register him/herself as RNRM (Registered Nurse Registered Midwife) from the State Nurses Registration Council.
  • MSc in Nursing -Candidates must have passed BSc Nursing / BSc Hons Nursing / Post Basic BSc Nursing with a minimum of 55 percent aggregate.
  • PhD in Nursing -Candidates must have passed MSc Nursing with a minimum of 55 percent aggregate.

Q:   What is the current scenario of NEET UG Counselling 2023?

A: 

The NEET 2023 counselling process was concluded by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on November 15, with the institute reporting process for the Special Stray Vacancy round. The result for this round was declared on November 10. As many as 156 candidates were allotted MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats.  

This is the last and final round of counselling and those who were allotted seats in either the national or any of the state counsellings, were not eligible to participate in this round. The registration and choice filling rounds were conducted from October 31 and November 1 till November 7. 

Earlier, MCC conducted an additional round of NEET 2023 counselling for BDS and BSc Nursing courses. In the Round 5, there were 455 BDS and BSc Nursing seats. The result for this round was declared on October 18 and 360 candidates were allotted seats. 

There were a total of 258 seats in the Round 6. The choice filling and locking rounds were conducted from October 25 to October 26. However, the result was scheduled to be declared on October 28, but the round was cancelled. Instead, MCC announced the Special Stray Vacancy round. 

In the fourth or the stray vacancy round of NEET 2023 counseling, there were a total of 2,454 MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats available for allotment. As many as 2,140 candidates were allotted seats in the last and final round. The result for this round was declared on September 27, after a day's delay. The seat allotment result for NEET 2023 counselling Round 3 was released on September 7. As many as 4,805 candidates have been freshly allotted seats. On the other hand, 2,198 candidates’ seats have been upgraded in Round 3 of NEET counselling 2023. As many as 200 MBBS seats were added in Round 3 of NEET 2023 counselling. According to the virtual vacancy and clear vacancy, there are 8,650 and 5,811 vacant seats respectively for this round.

In the Round 1 of NEET 2023 counselling, BSc Nursing seat allotment was not done since the participating institutes offering this course did not share the seat matrix with MCC. But from Round 2 onwards, the seat matrix included all three courses. Prior to registrations, candidates must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria. They must also note that the seats are allotted provisionally and the final admission will be granted only after the document verification is completed and admission fee is paid. MCC also gave candidates an option to resign previous round's allotted seat and convert their nationality from Indian to NRI.

Q:   When will NEET 2024 counselling process begin?

A: 

NEET 2024 counselling dates will be announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), tentatively in July 2024, after the declaration of the NEET 2024 result. Last year, the NEET counselling dates were released by MCC exactly after a month of the declaration of NEET result. The state medical authorities will conducting the counselling process for the 85 per cent state quota seats. The dates for conselling were different for the national level and state level admission processes. There will be four to six rounds of NEET counselling, which is the gateway for admission to medical and allied courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BSMS and BSc Nursing. 

Q:   What is the schedule for NEET exam 2024?

A: 

NEET or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test involves various stages or events. The dates for each event are announced by the exam conducting body, National Testing Agency (NTA), in advance. The first and foremost stage is the announcement of the exam date. NTA has released the exam date of NEET 2024, which will be held on May 5. NTA has announced the application dates and result date in the information brochure, along with the NEET 2024 application form. 

Q:   When did the NEET 2024 registration start?

A: 

NTA started the NEET 2024 registration on February 9, 2024. The last date of application was extended from March 9, 2024 to March 16, 2024. NTA reopened the NEET 2024 application process from April 9 to April 10, 2024. NEET 2024 will be conducted on May 5. NTA may extend the last date of application, or reopen the application window. NEET 2024 application process was conducted online. Candidates had to fill and submit the application form in an online mode along with the payment of the application fee.

Q:   When will the seat allotment result for JENPAS UG counselling announced?

A: 

JENPAS UG counselling seat allotment result will be announced tentatively in September 2024 for the Round-1 counselling. For the round-2 counselling, WBJEEB will release the seat allotment result within September 2024. A third, mop-up round will be conducted for the seats that are vacant. Candidates will be able to download the seat allotment result for the mop-up round as all the updates/results will be published on wbjeeb.nic.in. 

Q:   How many rounds of counselling will be conducted by WBJEEB after JENPAS UG exam?

A: 

As per the official guidelines, a total of three rounds of counselling will be held including the mop-up round for JENPAS UG 2023 seat allotment. It is mandatory to participate in the counselling process in online mode. All the counselling related information and procedures will be available and followed via official website, wbjeeb.nic.in. Candidates are advised to check the important dates and schedule to stay abreast with the latest counselling events. 

Q:   Do I need to pay any seat acceptance fee for admission via JENPAS UG exam?

A: 

As per the guidelines issued by WBJEEB, a candidate must pay a seat acceptance fee of INR 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only), to download the allotment letter. If the candidate fails to pay the seat acceptance fee, the current allotment will be cancelled, and he/she will not be considered for seat allotment in any future round. The online counselling process can be accessed through wbjeeb.nic.in website for admission to UG level courses.
