Ravindra Fadnavis, executive member of MRSSM, said that the association would not let board exams take place in their schools as centres. Also, they will not allot duty to their staff.
In order to firm up plans to boycott Maharashtra SSC and HSC exams, a crucial meeting between school trustees from all over Vidarbha is scheduled for Monday in Nagpur, according to TOI. Maharashtra government has received demands from Maharashtra Rajya Shikshan Sanstha Mahasangh (MRSSM), affiliated schools to clear up pending dues, else they won’t host the summer board exams. Earlier, TOI reported about MRSSM plans to boycott the board exams 2022.
Talking to the media house, Ravindra Fadnavis, executive member of MRSSM, said that the association would not let board exams take place in their schools as centres. Also, they will not allot duty to their staff. For the last couple of years, the state government has not been paying non-salary grants (NSG) as per rules. Also, reimbursements under the Right to Education (RTE) admission scheme have not been provided to all schools yet.
Fadnavis further added, “Representatives from Amravati and Nagpur division (which covers entire Vidarbha) will be present. We will ratify our decision to boycott the exam and then also address the media.”
Various schools and colleges operate under MRSSM, an association of educational trusts.
The state government has decided to keep ‘home centres’ for board exam, which means students will appear for the test in their alma mater. This gives MRSSM members leverage while heading to the bargaining table, TOI report said.
Fadnavis informed that the association ready to talk to the government and a letter has already been posted to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray. But we want concrete commitments, not verbal assurances.
MRSSM says that the high court had directed the state government to provide non-salary grants to schools, but in the 2021-22 academic session they have not received anything.
