Students are endlessly demanding cancellation for board Exams 2022. Following the demands made by Class 10, 12 students against the conduct of board exams 2022, the Supreme Court of India is scheduled to hear a plea today, i.e. February 23, 2022. The plea has been filed demanding cancellation of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and other state and central education boards.
Will board exams be canceled in 2022?
Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, several boards including CBSE, ICSE and other state boards ruled out alternative assessment methods to release board exam results in the year 2020 and 2021. However, in 2022, CBSE along with the CISCE and some other state boards decided to conduct 2021-22 board exams in two terms and term 1 exams are already over. Meanwhile, in many states, board exams are scheduled for March-April, 2022.
Demanding an alternative assessment method to release board results 2022, students across 15 states had filed a plea in the Apex Court. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana accepted the request for urgent listing of the writ petition. The matter will now be heard by a bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar.
Why are students demanding to cancel board exams?
The petition filed by students of 15 states seek the intervention of the Supreme Court against the board exams of the CBSE, CISCE, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), and other state boards. The petitioners also requested alternative assessment methods instead of written exams. Stating various reasons behind their demand, students have said that if classes were held via online mode then exams should also be conducted online and not offline.
