Tezpur University will be the first higher educational university in north-east India to provide admission in programmes on Hindu Studies. 

Tezpur University admission 2024 Tezpur University (TU) Assam will offer admission to the Hindu studies programme at the varsity. The university is set to inaugurate a Centre for Hindu Studies to promote the understanding of Hindu culture, philosophy and heritage. The Tezpur University's Academic Council and Board of Management have approved the proposal to inaugurate the Centre for Hindu Studies.  

With the beginning of programmes on Hindu Studies, Tezpur University will become the first university in northeast India to offer admission to Hindu studies programmes. Besides, TU further plans to inaugurate a Centre for Indian Knowledge System to support multidisciplinary research in Indian Traditions, as reported by TOI. 

The university has written to the University Grants Commission (UGC) requesting the need for faculty and staff to make the proposal successful. The university believes that these centres will enable students to have value and skill-oriented learning. The Centre for Hindu Studies will provide interdisciplinary research in Hinduism. 

As the latest turn of events, a committee is made to carefully analyse the plan, outcome and curriculum of the programme. The curriculum will enable students to have academic excellence along with the value and skill orientation required. Reportedly, several renowned Indian higher education institutions are already teaching several programmes on religious studies. Hence, Hindu studies will provide students with advanced knowledge of the culture, heritage, spirituality and history of Hinduism.
