This extension follows an earlier notice from UGC on July 10, 2024, which previously extended the deadline for claiming arrears to October 8, 2024.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced an extension for the deadline to claim pending dues related to post-doctoral and doctoral fellowships. Responding to numerous requests from stakeholders, UGC has now set the final date for claiming arrears to January 8, 2025.

Fellows and higher educational institutions (HEIs) are advised to submit their claims—covering fellowships, house rent allowance, and other contingencies—via the Scholarship Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP) by this deadline.

This extension follows an earlier notice from UGC on July 10, 2024, which previously extended the deadline for claiming arrears to October 8, 2024. The latest update now provides an additional three-month period for beneficiaries to file their dues.

Additionally, UGC has clarified that no exception requests will be entertained after December 31, 2024, for scholars who registered as Junior Research Fellows (JRF) on or before December 31, 2018. From January 1, 2025, the option to apply for such exception requests will be removed from the SFMP.

This decision underscores UGC's efforts to streamline the disbursement process while providing ample time for stakeholders to claim their outstanding fellowship dues.
