CENTAC MBBS Admission 2020: The Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) received directions from Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi to complete the MBBS Admission 2020 process by the end of December 2020. During a meeting conducted to discuss 50% Government Quota and 10% horizontal reservation in the MBBS program offered at various Puducherry’s private medical colleges, Ms Bedi issued the directive related to Pondicherry MBBS Admission 2020-21 as well.

While conducting the meeting, many concerns were raised stating that declaring results of NEET 2020, CENTAC did not include information about 50% seat reservation policy by private colleges in its MBBS Brochure 2020. It was also noticed that the information regarding the 10% horizontal reservation for government school students who have successfully passed 10+2 was also not added.

According to an order passed by Madras High Court on December 11, 2020, it was too late to change the rules of MBBS Admission after the selection process had begun for medical courses. Moreover, the draft bill for 50% government quota of total MBBS seats in the private medical colleges under government quota, which was submitted by the Puducherry Government is also not approved by the centre yet.

Pondicherry MBBS Admission 2020: Counselling Procedure

Without doing any further delay, the Lieutenant Governor issued directives to CENTAC officials to proceed with the MBBS Admission 2020-21 process and finish it by December 31. The Lieutenant Governor said, “The time now available for completing the MBBS Admission Process was therefore limited.”

Candidates must note that MBBS Counseling 2020 by CENTAC will be conducted in three rounds followed by mop-up counselling before completion of the admission process by December 31. However, the MBBS program fee will remain the same as the previous years. Kiran Bedi also insisted that the proposal pending with the Centre on the draft Bill for 50% government seat quota along with the Cabinet’s proposal for 10% seat quota for government school students should be pursued by the administration.
