Special Task Force (STF) arrested two members of the gang who duped around 200 NEET aspirants promising admission to medical colleges.

Special Task Force (STF) has busted a gang that duped nearly 200 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirants using forged SMSes naming the Medical Council of India (MCI). The gang had six members, and STF has arrested two of its members, reported News18.

This gang used NEET aspirants online data and contacted them with admissions offer to big medical colleges. The fraud gang conned nearly 200 students from across the country. The gang promised them admissions to big medical and engineering colleges.

STF Superintendent of Police Navin Chaudhary confirmed that they have arrested two natives of Purnia in Bihar, Sandeep Karvariya, and Deepak Kumar. One of the arrested frauds named Sandeep was also earlier nabbed by Habibganj police in a case of forgery in the year 2013. The gang used to spend lavishly on luxuries.

Surprisingly, these arrested men are engineering graduates who were doing this after they failed to find a job. They duped students from multiple states including Maharashtra, UP, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, MP and many more.

The modus operandi was such that they used to contact the students as a career guide, made them fill up MCI forms and even took lakhs of money from their families. The gang extracted different amounts from different targets ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50 lakh. Later on, the students received admission confirmation messages from MCI. They even made interested students visit the medical colleges and deployed their own men as college officers.
