Maharashtra govt approves 25% reservation for in-service medical officers
Maharashtra government has announced the approval of 25% reservation in PG medical seats for in-service medical officers under state quota admission.
As per this reservation, any candidates who are seeking admission under the new quota will have to complete a minimum of three years of service in rural and tribal public health facilities after acquiring their medical degrees.
Reservations for in-service medical officers will provide medical specialists in rural India
With this decision, the public health department hopes to provide specialist medical services in rural and tribal areas.
“Due to this decision, specialist services will be available to patients in rural and tribal areas in the next 10 years,” tweeted Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
“This important and far-reaching decision will ensure specialist services will be available to patients in rural and tribal areas. It has therefore been approved to give reserved quota of 25% in PG medical admissions for in-service medical officers,” he said in another tweet.
The official notification reads, “After completing MBBS degree, candidates who have served three years continuously in government health facilities in rural and tribal areas will be eligible to seek admission under this. After completing PG, these candidates will then have to serve a bond of five years of service in government health facilities."
