NEET 2025 latest news and updates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has submitted its argument against the petition on NEET 2025 retest owing to a one-hour power outage in the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) 2025 at the examination centres in Indore. In the plea, the petitioner seeks a Madhya Pradesh High Court judgement to conduct the NEET UG 2025 retest for the affected candidates.

The plea was filed at the Madhya Pradesh High Court bench by medical aspirants alleging that the power outage at NEET exam centres in Indore affected their performance in the national-level entrance test conducted for UG medical and dental admissions across India. The petitioner further argued that they had to complete the NEET UG 2025 exam using emergency lights, lamps and candles.

However, at the proceeding's hearing, NTA counsel submitted to the Court with an assessment written by an independent committee, indicating that despite the one-hour power outage at the 18 impacted centres, the candidates had enough natural light to pass the exam, as reported by Medical Dialogues.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the NTA, urged the HC bench, saying, "If there had actually been inadequate lighting, the first sign would have been a much lower number of attempted questions. The overall result might not have indicated such excellent performance, but 11 candidates from the respective centres scored more than 600 out of 720 marks."

The NEET UG exam was conducted on May 4 this year for students seeking admission to undergraduate medical courses across the country. This year, one day after the examination, several exam centres in Indore faced a power outage because of uncontrollable weather conditions.
