Big Relief for 32,000 Teachers in Bengal, Calcutta High Court Overturns Decision to ‘Cancel’ Appointments

The HC bench said that ending jobs after 9 years of service will have a very bad impact on these teachers and their families.

Primary Teachers in West Bengal have big relief from Calcutta High Court. Earlier this year, due to Irregularities in teachers’ appointments, High Court ordered cancel of teacher appointments in the state.

The Division Bench of Calcutta High Court has overturned the earlier decision and observed that if jobs of people who have been working for close to nine years are taken away, those people and their families will face great difficulties.

Few months before the West Bengal assembly elections, more than 32,000 primary school teachers have got big relief from the court. These teachers have been holding protest also in Kolkata for some time.

Division Bench of Calcutta HC cancelled the order in which appointment of more than 32,000 teachers in primary teachers was cancelled. The HC bench said that ending jobs after 9 years of service will have a very bad impact on these teachers and their families.

Previously, a Single Bench of the High Court, while hearing a petition filed against the alleged appointment Scam in SSC (School Service Commission), Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay ordered the removal of teachers from service.
