Nitish Kumar today announced a new domicile policy for TRE-4 as #STET and #TRE4 trend across social media
Nitish Kumar has announced domicile based policy for TRE-4 as STET 2025 result delay leads to protest.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Monday that Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE‑4), slated for 2025, will prioritise Bihar domicile holders in teacher appointments. 35% women’s reservation will now apply exclusively to state resident women, while remaining posts will also give preference to locals under general category. TRE‑5 in 2026 will also same policy.
Social mdia trend #STET and #TRE4 have caused debate as thousands of STET 2025 aspirants continue to protest due to delay in result announcement. They demand that Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) be held and declared before TRE‑4 is conducted.
This announcement followed continuous pressure from youth and aspirants. On August 1, student organisations led protests in Patna demanding 100% domicile preference in TRE‑4 and other government jobs. Buxar MP Sudhakar Singh also urged BSEB to release STET results immediately and conduct STET before TRE‑4, calling delay potentially disqualifying for thousands.
Experts view this move as a pre-election measure to consolidate support from Bihar’s unemployed youth by addressing long standing demands for local first recruitment.
Around 50,000 teaching posts across primary to higher secondary levels will be filled through TRE‑4. Bihar Education Department has been asked to update rules to ensure new policy is implemented effectively. Discontent is growing as hashtags #STET and #TRE4 are trending, putting pressure on state government and BSEB to provide clarity and timely action.
