GGSIPU announces a new three-year degree course, Bachelors of Commerce (Honours), starting 2013-14.

Delhi-based Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has announced a new degree course, Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), starting academic year 2013-14. This comes close on the heels of Delhi University breaking away from traditional commerce courses such as BCom (Hons) and BCom (Pass). In effect, there's no BA, BSc, BCom at DU anymore!

Students aiming for the original three-year commerce degree can now pursue B Com (H) from GGSIPU. About 60 seats will be offered at each affiliated institutions offering the course.

When asked about reasons to launch the programme, institute authorities cited the need for professional courses in the market. The authorities further expressed their intent to make arrangements with institutes such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India so that students can pursue chartered accountancy, cost accounting or company secretary courses.
