Beat the admission stress
Dream course...dream college....if all you can think about these days is getting into the college that you have always dreamt about, you are not alone. Lacs of students out there are grappling with each other to land the course that would form the foundation of a successful career. With all these admission worries, comes admission stress. Even the brightest of students face this anxiety at some point or the other. So, how do you get the better of this stress? How do you beat it? How do you keep it at an arm's length? There are ways to do it.
First, remember one thing at all times- It's going to be ok. Whether you get into your preferred college or you have to settle down for some other institute, it's really going to be ok. Talk to your seniors, talk to your family and look at people who have done well in their lives even if they did not get admission into the institute of their first choice. This does not mean succumbing to a compromising attitude. This means making the best of those opportunities that you get in life.
Second, dont restrict your choices to just a few. Explore your interests and apply to all the colleges offering the course of your choice. If you cannot decide between two courses, apply for both. Meanwhile, keep doing your research to make the correct decision. When the admissions begin, you can opt for the course that you find more appealing based on your research.
Three, dont be bogged down by peer pressure. Everybody is headed to a separate destiny. There are different things in store for you and for your friends. For all you know, ten years down the line, you might be doing much better than that friend of yours who went to the college that you wanted to get into. While admission marks the beginning of the formation of your career, it is not the only factor that determines its success. A lot depends on your hard work and how you make the best of the opportunities that come your way.
Four, dont believe in rumors and hearsay. There are proper channels of information at every university and institute. For all your queries and doubts, contact the right source of information. If possible, connect with senior students and faculty at the institute to find out what you want to know.
Five, relax and remain optimistic. Your worrying cannot really help change your prospects. All it can do is make you ill-confident, bitter and anxious. So, dont worry and wait for the admission list. There surely are great things waiting to happen in your life. And dont forget that first tip: It's going to be ok.
For most students, college life is the most defining period of their life. For some, it brings the best to the fore and shapes their personality in ways more than one. A lot of fun, freedom and excitement await you. Think about all these positive things and beat the admission stress successfully.
