IIT aspirants who took their class XII boards this year will be able to appear for JEE Advance 2013, even if they scored 60%.

IIT aspirants who appeared for their Class XII board exams in 2012 have reasons to relax after months of uncertainty over the new JEE. For these students planning to take an attempt at JEE Advance 2013, the eligibility criteria will remain the same as that used for IIT JEE 2012. It means that they will be able to appear for JEE Advance 2013, with a minimum class XII score of 60% marks. SC, ST or PD students who have scored 55% marks in their board exams in 2012 will be eligible too.

The Top 20 percentile rule will be applicable only to students who will give their qualifying board exam next year.

This concession will only be a one-time concession to students. IITs’ Joint Admission Board (JAB) had made the suggestion to smoothen the transition of IIT JEE to JEE for aspirants.

However, foreign students will be considered eligible for JEE Advance 2013, on the basis of Top 20 percentile cut-offs in CBSE Class XII board examinations.
