6 new AIIMS offering 100 MBBS seats each
For medical aspirants aiming to secure a MBBS seat at the coveted All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), life's just got better with more choices.
In a major step taken by the union government, all the six newly introduced AIIMS at Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Raipur (Chattisgarh), Rishikesh (Uttrakhand), Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and Patna (Bihar) will double their intake in the MBBS course from the upcoming session.
For the session commencing in August, these institutes will admit 100 students each to their MBBS course, which is double the intake of 50 students in 2012.
Confirming the development, Keshav Desiraju, secretary for health and family welfare in the union government said, “All six AIIMS units have made good progress by way of development of infrastructure. As such, it has been decided to allow them to admit 100 students to the MBBS course from this year," reported HT. As per the report, AIIMS-Patna is also launching nursing classes with an intake of 60 students this year.
