All those who are dreaming to become a doctor, this is the right time to convert your dreams into reality by making the best use of your knowledge, energy and efforts in a planed manner.
Chemistry as a subject in AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test) needs equal and constant practice as compared to the other two subjects i.e. Physics and Biology.
The paper comprises of 45 questions and is of three hours duration. As for the syllabus is concerned, it encompasses topics covered in Std 11th and 12th.
However, to crack the section you need to adhere to some important tips and tricks. Listed below are some of them which would help you through your preparations for the subject this year:
- It is very important to understand each and every topic and their basic concepts; hence you must go through the NCERT book.
- First start with Physical Chemistry, spend time in solved examples, mug up all formulas. Once the concepts are clear, try to implement these concepts and procedures by solving max. MCQs. If you get stuck anywhere take help of teacher and again try for similar questions. Remember, practice will help you a lot so try to attempt at least 50 questions in a go.
- Inorganic chemistry is more about facts and little about concepts. You can take the advantage of your cramming ability in this section. Before starting the topics see the previous year questions and analyze the area from where maximum questions have been asked. Now prepare a formula chart of important chemicals and minerals and keep revising it every day. Some topics like Coordination chemistry and P Block chemistry are important, try to solve their questions again and again.
- Organic chemistry is very demanding where you must have clarity about the concepts. First of all start with NCERT but to prepare a bit extra consult other relevant books also. When your concepts are clear, start doing MCQs on simple concepts and then try for tougher questions, since topics are interlinked they may create a fuss, but do not lose your heart keep on going with strong determination and time will be yours.
- Chemistry as a subject is not too difficult, but actually scoring.
- Referring to model question papers will give you an insight in identifying the important and frequently asked questions.
- When solving the question, try to complete it in a stipulated time.
- You can prepare a formula chart of these topics and keep for revising them as they are quite helpful in objective exams.
- The regular practice, positive attitude, hard work, coming up with solutions to problems and strengthening your weak areas will help you achieve your target.
