After much chaos, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally decided to restore the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test after scrapping NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).
This All-India level exam will determine admissions to 15% seats in Government Medical/ Dental Colleges all over India except in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The exam will also be used for admission to Medical/Dental colleges participating in the test.
AIPMT is scheduled to be conducted on May 4, 2014 in selected cities across India and abroad. The test will have one paper with 180 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (45 questions from each subject).
This entrance examination will follow the same syllabus as notified by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for NEET-UG, which can be viewed at www.mciindia.org. Till last year, AIPMT was conducted in two stages – preliminary and final but as per information, CBSE intends to conduct the test in a single stage and will seek permission from Supreme Court for the same.
