BITSAT is a common online test for admission to Birla Institute of Technology & Science Pilani and its other campuses in Goa and Hyderabad.

Introduced in 2005, the computer-based BITSAT is offered over about 30 days in May/June and the candidate can choose the centre, day and time of his/her convenience to take the test. The three-hour test has four parts. The number of questions in each part is given in the box.

Each candidate will get different set of 150 objective-type questions. Each correct answer fetches three marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of one mark. The candidate can skip a question.

There is no time limit for individual sections. The candidate can go back and change any of the answers.

In case a candidate answers all the 150 questions, he/she will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions. These questions will be from physics, chemistry and math, four from each part. Once the candidate opts for extra questions, he cannot go back for corrections of any of the earlier 150 answered questions. The extra 12 questions will give a chance to highly meritorious candidates to score higher.
