CMAT results will be declared on the 11th of March, 2012. From this academic year, AICTE-approved institutions will use CMAT scores for entry to their management programmes.

The Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) was conducted for the very first time by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) this year. It was conducted online from 20th February to 28th February, 2012. Know more about CMAT exam

All India merit list drawn on the basis of CMAT results 2012 will be the basis for admission to MBA seats in about 4,000 management institutes and colleges approved by AICTE as well as in another 500 AICTE approved management institutions that are offering PG Diploma in Management (PGDM) programmes. Together, these colleges offer about 1.6 lakh seats to management aspirants. Check out the list of management colleges that will accept CMAT scores

CMAT Scoring and Ranking Procedure

CMAT 2012 was a computer-based test. CMAT Results will be declared as CMAT scores for individuals, as well as in terms of All India merit list.

To calculate CMAT scores, four marks will be given to the candidate for each correct answer; no marks will be given for questions that have not been attempted; while one mark will be deducted from the total score for each incorrect answer.

Separate scores for each section will also be mentioned in CMAT result for an individual.

In the National Merit Ranking for CMAT , if more than one candidates score a tie in overall CMAT scores, they will be ranked on the basis of their sectional scores in the following order:

  • Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Language Comprehension
  • General Awareness

If they still have a tie, they will be assigned same rank, with their name displaying in the alphabetical order in the list.

The rank of the subsequent candidates will shift by the number of students having same rank. Hence, if two candidates are ranked at #10, the subsequent candidate will be ranked at 12, and not 11.

Since, CMAT was conducted for the first time, the actual scenario about CMAT cutoffs in different colleges is not clear. For this we need to wait and watch.
