COVID-19 Impact: Mangalore University suspends offline classes until March 29
Mangalore University has suspended the offline classes only for postgraduate and research students. The classes will remain suspended until March 29, 2021.
Mangalore University has suspended offline classes for the students owing to the rise in coronavirus cases. The classes will remain suspended until March 29, 2021. Mangalore University has suspended the offline classes only for postgraduate and research students.
Mangalore University Registrar, P L Dharma issued a circular on the closure of offline classes in the campus. He said the decision was taken after the rising cases of COVID 19 in Mangalagangothri campus of the university.
The move comes after a total of six students from different departments have been tested positive. The state health department has asked the university to suspend the offline classes immediately as the infected students had many primary contacts on the campus.
Mangalore University was given the directions to tackle the situation. The university has taken certain measures in this regard. Students are asked not to step outside of the hostel until further notice.
Apart from Mangalore University, various other colleges were already in the containment zone. One such recent case was Manipal University. Various houses in the close vicinity of Mangalore have already been declared contained zones. The district administration is containing the places where more than 5 persons are found to be COVID 19 positive.
As of now, Mangalore University suspends offline classes for PG and research students. The class may or may not open on March 29, 2021, depending on the rise in COVID cases.
Along with Mangalore University, several other universities across the country have suspended the classes owing to the rise in coronavirus cases.
