A passionate student dedicated to academic excellence, fueled by a curiosity that knows no bounds. My journey is not just about textbooks; it’s a fusion of literature, science, and art. Exploring the intersections of knowledge while embracing the beauty of diverse interests

Q1. How did you choose your course of study in school (class XI-XII)? What made you choose your current college/course (undergrad/post-grad)?

In my school, when it was time to choose a stream for Class 11-12, I wanted to explore something different that was becoming increasingly relevant. My father suggested Commerce. I decided to follow his advice. Commerce pays my attention to a dynamic field with huge opportunities, and my parents support entirely my decision. It looks like the ideal combination of logic, business, and practical applications inspired me to learn more.

As I filled in deeper into commerce during my school years, my interest only grew stronger. I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) for my undergraduate studies. This has strengthened my understanding of finance, accounting, and business dynamics. However, I soon realised that technical knowledge alone wasn’t enough and that management skills were equally important for growth.

Q:   What are the factors that candidates must consider while comparing VJIM MBA course?
A:
VJIM provides a two-year PGDM programme at the PG level. Comparing VJIM with other colleges offering PGDM/ MBA courses, candidates should understand the parameters they think are important.
  • Candidates can compare the Return on Investment (ROI) that they can expect after the course. To do this, they need to compare course fees and placement records of different colleges.
  • Candidates can also compare the colleges based on the overall rankings and accreditation.
  • Candidates can compare colleges by course structure, specialisation, curriculum, medium of instruction, etc.

As I realised this, I decided to take a PGDM in Finance from Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM), Hyderabad. This course not only enhances my knowledge of commerce but also enhances my leadership, decision making and strategic thinking abilities. I believe that finance is not only about numbers but about making the right decisions that will lead a company to growth. I believe that by choosing finance and management I will be able to get a more overall view that will help me to grow in the company world.

Q2. How did you crack admission in your current college? What entrance test(s) did you give? Any coaching classes that you took for preparation? Any other colleges that you were trying out for? What challenges did you face while opting for this college?

To get into Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM), Hyderabad, was a journey filled with decisions, challenges, and excitement. I got admission to VJIM through my Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) score and performance in the PI round. To get admission, I didn’t take any coaching classes for CMAT preparation, I relied on self-study and practice.

With so many options available, I had to ensure that the one I picked aligned with my career goals in finance. I spent time researching faculty, curriculum, placements, and overall reputation before making my decision.

The admission process was competitive. Apart from having a strong academic background and a good CMAT score, I had to prepare well for the interview and present myself confidently. The pressure to meet eligibility criteria and perform well in the selection process was a challenge.

Another major factor was financial planning. Higher education comes with its costs, and I had to evaluate tuition fees and additional expenses before finalising my choice.

After all this, I chose VJIM based on my parents’ decision and my belief that it would provide the right opportunities for learning and growth. The transition to a new academic environment required adjusting to new teaching methods, classmates, and expectations. Initially, stepping out of my comfort zone was tough, but over time, I adapted to the environment and college life. Looking back, I’m glad I made this choice.

Q3. How you spend your time at college? Which classes do you like to attend? Which extra-curricular activities are you a part of in college? If given a chance, what else would you want to do? How has your college experience changed you as a person? What opportunities do you see in future?

College life at Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM), Hyderabad, has been an exciting journey. I love spending my time chilling with friends and learning new things. Exploring the campus is one of my favourite things to do, especially sitting at my favourite spot-the basketball court surrounded by greenery, which offers a peaceful break from a busy day.

I enjoy attending classes, and collecting memories, and particularly love finance classes because of their practical approach and engaging faculty. The classroom atmosphere is encouraging which makes learning enjoyable. Subjects like Financial Modelling with Excel, Accounting, Financial Markets and Services and Auditing help me understand the corporate world better. Apart from finance, I find Business Communication and Marketing exciting, as they enhance my interpersonal and strategic thinking skills.

Other than academics, I actively participate in various extracurricular activities. I am a member of the Finance Club and I also have a strong passion for dancing and participated in dance competitions during the Milan Fest at VJIM. Additionally, I coordinated and conducted a ramp walk event which was a great leadership experience and even had the opportunity to participate in the event the following year.

My college experience at VJIM has been amazing. The faculty has played a significant role in shaping me into the person I am today. I have learned valuable skills like negotiation, time management, and leadership, and I’m trying to overcome stage fear which will help me in both my personal and professional life.

One of the biggest milestones in my journey at VJIM has been securing a placement in a well-reputed company in the finance sector. This opportunity is a significant step in my career, aligning with my interest in finance, taxation, and auditing. The support from VJIM’s placement cell, faculty mentorship, and industry-oriented curriculum played a crucial role in preparing me for this achievement.

Overall, my college journey till now has been enriching and full of learning experiences. VJIM has provided me with the right blend of academic knowledge, extracurricular exposure, and industry insights, which will help me grow further.

Q 4. What do you plan in future?

I plan to build a strong career in finance and taxation, applying the knowledge gained at the Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM). In the short term, I aim to gain industry experience, enhance my analytical skills, and pursue certifications like CPA to enhance my expertise.

In the long run, I aspire to take on leadership roles in finance and explore financial consulting. Personal growth is also important to me, and I wish to develop strong leadership and decision-making skills while mentoring aspiring finance professionals just like my professors and mentors have supported me.

With continuous learning, hard work and dedication, I look forward to seizing new opportunities and making a meaningful impact in the finance industry.
