13 lakh students will appear for AIEEE 2012. The offline version will be held on 29th April while online version of the exam will be held over a period of 7th to 25th May.

AIEEE 2012 is just round the corner. The offline AIEEE will be conducted on April 29, 2012, while online AIEEE will be conducted over a 19-day window - from May 7 to May 26. The number of takers for the exam has risen from 11.3 lakh to 13 lakh this year. Students have responded well to the initiatives taken by CBSE to promote the online exams and 1.96 lakh have opted for the online All India Engineering Entrance Examination this year.

 

From next year, CBSE is planning to make AIEEE online only, just like the CAT exams. This will help the organisers to make the exams more transparent and easier to assess.

The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts AIEEE as an entrance exam to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs of NITs, IIITs, deemed universities, and some other state-funded engineering colleges and institutes across India. The number of engineering seats attainable through AIEEE across India this year hovers around 28,000 while the number of seats available for architecture courses is around 1,000. Know more

Eligibility:

 

Candidates, who have cleared their 10+2 exams with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as their subjects and whose birth date falls on or after October 1, 1987, are eligible for the exam.
Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) candidates are allowed a relaxation of five years in the upper age limit. Hence, the SC, ST and PWD candidates born on or after October 01, 1982 are eligible for the exam.

 

Birth date recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only will be considered as ‘authentic' for the purpose.

 

Exam Format:

 

Candidates targeting for BE or B.Tech courses will have a single question paper of three hours duration. It will have questions on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics on the level of Class 10th and 12th.

 

The questions will be objective type and have multiple choices.

 

There is negative marking of ¼ mark for every wrong answer.

 

Candidates targeting for B.Arch or B. Planning courses will face a question paper with three sections:

 

  • Mathematics,
  • Aptitude Test and
