Gujarat's only Sainik School to admit girls in Class 6 from next session
Gujarat's only Sainik School situated near Balachadi village in Jamnagar district will give admissions to girls in Class 6 for the upcoming academic session of 2020-21.
The sole Sainik School located in Gujarat decided to admit girl students. Meanwhile, the application process for AISSEE 2021 i.e. All India Sainik School Entrance Examination has already begun from October 20. According to media reports, Gujarat's only Sainik School situated near Balachadi village in Jamnagar district will give admissions to girls in Class 6 for the upcoming academic session of 2020-21. The decision to allow admission of girl students to Sainik Schools is taken as per the latest directives released by the Ministry of Defence. Around 10% of the total vacancies or minimum of 10 seats will be reserved for girl students who want to join Sainik Schools. Earlier, Defence PRO for Gujarat confirmed that Sainik School Balachadi will start admitting girl students from next academic session. As part of the process, initially, girls would be inducted in Class 6 of the Sainik Schools from next academic year.
Girls will be provided military training along with studies. Elaborating on the training, Defence PRO officials said that "Along with studies, military training will be given to girls in the same manner as it is being conducted for boys enabling them to join as officers in armed forces.” In order to grant admissions to Sainik Schools across India, NTA i.e. the National Testing Agency is all set to hold entrance exam on January 10, 2021. For 2021 session, the Sainik Schools Society gave the charge of holding AISSEE 2021 to the apex testing agency, NTA. Candidates seeking admission to Class VI and Class IX in any of the 33 Sainik Schools across the country, can register themselves on the exam portal aissee.nta.nic.in.
