Himachal Pradesh School Reopening: Schools, Colleges shut until December 31

According to the latest reports, the curfew will be in place from today, i.e. November 24, 2020, until December 15 in Shimla, Mandi, Kangra and Kullu districts from 8 pm to 6 am, state’s Parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Bhardwaj said.

Himachal Pradesh School Reopening: The Himachal Pradesh government on November 23, 2020, decided to keep all schools and colleges closed until December 31 and imposed a night curfew in four districts to fight the recent spurt in the coronavirus cases. According to the latest reports, the curfew will be in place from today, i.e. November 24, 2020, until December 15 in Shimla, Mandi, Kangra and Kullu districts from 8 pm to 6 am, state’s Parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Bhardwaj said.
The reports also suggest that the decision to clamp the fresh curbs was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

All educational institutions had been closed till November 25. Earlier, the Himachal Pradesh government decided to close all the educational institutions across the state for a fortnight amid the rising coronavirus cases. The state cabinet in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur decided to recommend to the Governor to convene the winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly from December 7 to December 11, the minister said. The decision to close educational institutions from November 11 to November 25 was taken during the meeting here on November 10, parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Bhardwaj said. However, now, the school will remain shut until December 31.

Schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the state have been kept closed since mid-March owing to the coronavirus outbreak in the country followed by the nationwide lockdown imposed by the Central government in order to contain the contagious virus.
