IIT- D declares own entrance exam too
In the senate meeting yesterday, IIT Delhi has unanimously decided to follow the lead of IIT Kanpur and conduct its own entrance exam. An online survey by the Co-curricular and Academic Interaction Council and Student Affairs Council at IIT Delhi also showed that 93 per cent of IIT-D students are against the new CET proposed by the HRD Minister Kapil Sibal. IIT-D senate has full support of its Alumni Association on the issue.
The exam for IIT Delhi will be conducted on the lines of IIT JEE 2012. A committee will be set up by the IIT-D senate to review the exam and propose changes for the entrance exam for 2014 and beyond. Read more
NDTV reports that IIT Bombay and Kharagpur may also join the revolt and hold their own entrance exams. Kapil Sibal’s latest statement that he is open to the suggestion of IITs, only if they have a better idea, has caused the upheaval. See details
Students are worried about the increasing uncertainty over engineering entrance exams for IITs. Separate entrance tests for different IITs will only add to the stress and confusion of engineering aspirants.
