Meet the JEE Main 2013 Topper!

In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Anagh Prasad from Ranchi, JEE Main 2013 topper, gives a low down about his journey so far and his plans for the future!

I am absolutely surprised and thrilled but after taking the exam, the first thing I did was to calculate my marks. As per my calculation, I knew I would score something about 345 and yes, I did!

Well, I have been preparing from Class XI and took coaching classes from FIITJEE, Ranchi. I'm a student of Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Ranchi.

I took a two-year classroom program from FIITJEE and strictly followed what my teachers suggested and taught. Moreover, I undertook chapter-wise preparations and did not deviate from the syllabus.

In total, I scored 345 out of 360. The score break-up is - Physics: 115/120; Chemistry: 110/120; Mathematics: 120/120.

I have a flair for studying, so I enjoyed the whole process of preparing for the exam without pressurizing my mind with what the ultimate result is going to be. When studying I only focused on my studies rather than thinking about cracking the exam like most students do. I actually never thought about whether I would crack the exam.

You would not believe this, but I never aimed at JEE Mains. Till date and through this journey, JEE Advanced was my target. I am 95% sure of cracking JEE Advanced.

As far as my study plans are concerned, I am still taking coaching classes and we are having review sessions at the centre. The questions for JEE Advanced will be tougher and we are preparing for the toughest questions. JEE Main was just a platform, my main target is JEE Advanced 2013.

Truly speaking, I haven’t yet decided and will be able to only after the JEE Advanced results are declared. However, IIT – Delhi, Bombay and Kanpur top my list of dream institutes.

I would suggest students not to take their studies as a burden. Always take it as a duty and enjoy while performing your duty! Burden always pressurizes one’s mind and most of the time breaks a person! Since childhood, I never took my studies as a burden and enjoyed it to the fullest!

The new concept has brought with it hard work, pressure and stress! With the earlier concept, we were free by the first week of April, but now they have extended the exam by two months. This adds up to our tension and anxiety. In fact, it was very tough for me to prepare for my boards and JEE together.

Anagh appeared in Class XII board exam from Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, Ranchi and passed his Class X board exam from DAV Kapildeo School with excellent grades.
