The Beginning of My Journey

I never wanted to leave my home. But, life has a funny way of pushing us towards situations that change us for the better. For me, that situation was moving to a new town, a new college, and a completely new life.

Sometimes, it still feels bizarre at times going to college on campus, attending lectures in the classrooms, and doing all of it by myself. Earlier, when I was at home, doing all these things was much easier than it is now. I had my family and friends there around me every time, who made life look so easy. But, when I got admission to DU, I knew I had to take this chance, even if it meant leaving my home behind.

 Adjusting to PG Life

I am staying in a PG. Life in PG is completely different to life at home. I prepare my own meals and manage the finances myself.

The initial weeks were the toughest. I struggled to balance my budget, decide what to eat, and cope with the fatigue of college life. Eventually, everything started happening in a better way. I figured out which budget meals suited me, how to create my own schedules, and above all, how to take care of myself.

Struggling for Financial Independence

Financial independence is one of my biggest struggles. I do not want to rely on my family for money. This led me to research online work. I researched ways to earn money, and Ghostwriting was something that interested me. But, it was not easy to get started. I did not own a laptop, which was a problem. But, I was not going to let that stop me. I started writing with whatever I had available on my phone, public computers, or anything that would allow me to get the work done. I looked into freelancing websites, contacted potential clients, and eventually started getting small jobs. It does not pay me a lot. But, it is enough to keep me going.

The Challenge of Balancing Responsibilities

Life becomes overwhelming as I juggle college studies, freelancing work, and personal care. There are days when I feel completely exhausted. At those times, I keep myself motivated by reminding myself of the reasons that prompted my journey. A desire to build personal independence drives me to create something that fosters self-reliance. Each tiny progression matters, and my forward movement verifies my actions as correct.

Embracing Self-Care

I have learned to appreciate the importance of self-care. The small act of self-care helps me gain a slight sense of control over my life. I have started adopting healthier eating habits and regular physical activity while maintaining personal awareness to avoid self-neglect.

Life at Gargi College

Life at Gargi College is a mix of challenges and excitement. The first thing that attracted me was the vibrant and diverse atmosphere. Students participate in debates with contagious enthusiasm, which encourages me to step out of my comfort zone. Academically, pursuing a BCom is not easy. But, with the right mindset, it is manageable. Some professors are incredibly inspiring. Group projects, presentations, and assignments keep me busy.

But, they taught me teamwork and time management. At first, making friends was hard because everyone seemed to have their own groups. With time, I found my circle of friends who understand me and make this journey easier. Whether it's grabbing a snack, rushing to lectures, or venting about life, these small moments make college special.

There are tough days, too, because sometimes balancing studies, work, and personal life becomes highly exhausting. But being around people who are working toward their goals keeps me motivated. Gargi has given me a sense of belonging, and I am truly grateful for it.

Looking Towards the Future

This is just the beginning of the adventure. I have no clue where it will lead. But, one thing is certain: I will never give up. I aim to grow and develop as a writer. I am taking it one step at a time, learning, adapting, and pushing forward, always growing with each experience. Because in the end, this is my journey, and I refuse to let it slip away.
