Over five lakh students to write IIT JEE 2012

Indian Institutes of Technology have been organising IIT JEE not only in India but also in Dubai. While in India the number of students appearing for this prestigious engineering entrance exam has increased from 4.86 lakh to about 5.06 lakh students, the candidate count in Dubai has dipped from about 200 to 186.
The last exam held in the present version, IIT JEE 2012 will see a stiff competition tomorrow. The students will vie for about 9,590 seats across 15 IITs, which means that the ratio of students to seats is 53:1. More about the new format of IIT JEE

This year, students are directed to use a blackball point pen, instead of a pencil. IITs have also made it compulsory that general category students should get at least 35% as the minimum aggregate score and at least 10% in individual sections to be a part of the rank list. OBC candidates need to get an aggregate score of 31.5% and at least 9% in individual sections while SC/ST students need to get 17.5% in aggregate score and 5% in individual sections. Read more
