Punjab Government asks schools not to charge any admission, re-admission and tuition fees from the students for the academic year 2020-21.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced that the government schools in the state will not charge any admission, re-admission and tuition fee from the students for this academic year 2020-21. The announcement was made by the Chief Minister during this week's #AskCaptain session, a weekly series held by Captain Amarinder Singh on Twitter. During the session, the Punjab Chief Minister address the queries and suggestions sent by people of the state.
"CM @Capt_Amarinder also announced that no admission, re-admission and tuition fees will be charged from all students studying in Govt Schools from this session (2020-21)," CM's official Twitter handle said.
Several parents across the country have been demanding that the school fees should not be charged for the duration it has been kept closed owing to coronavirus crisis. Responding to the parent's concern, he made the announcement that no fees will be charged for government school students. During the session, Manpreet Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib informed the Chief Minister that his daughter's name was struck off from school due to the non-payment of admission fees. Taking cognizance of the complaint, he ordered the DC of Fatehgarh Sahib to visit the School today, i.e. July 27, 2020.
While answering another query raised by a parent, he said that the state government has recruited efficient teachers and proper attendance in schools while upgrading many government schools to smart schools. The upgradation of schools has also led to excellent board results.
