Best Student Cities, released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), is a ranking of the best cities in the world for students. While Paris takes the top honours, not a single Indian city makes it to the top 50 slot.

The ranking is based on university rankings, quality of living, student mix, employer activity and affordability. US has the highest number of cities listed – seven, followed by Australia (six), Canada (three) and UK (three).

The top ten list features two Asian cities: Singapore (Rank 3) and Hong Kong (Rank 7).

Whereas, on affordability, Mumbai is ranked the second most affordable city for international students, which Delhi gets the 12th spot on this parameter.

Individual choices and experiences will vary. For instance, Aditi Krishnan, former humanities student and a travel writer/ blogger/consultant says, "Paris is very beautiful but it can also be slightly snooty and unfriendly if you don't speak French. A lot of people are very nice but you also bump into a lot of them who are super brusque for no reason at all."
Her vote goes to New York City. "NYC is so awesome because it has everything. It's artsy, it's grubby, it's wonderful. With over 130 nationalities living there, it kind of exudes this exclusive aura...everyone can belong here. You can never be bored in NYC."
