UK Law School announces scholarships for Indian students
Those aspiring to study law in the UK can rejoice! The Law School at the University of Southampton has announced 30 per cent scholarship to Indian students seeking admission.
According to an official statement, “The Southampton Law School has announced a scholarship of 30 per cent for LLB (Hons) Law (3 years), LLB (Hons) Maritime Law (3 years), LLB (Hons) European Legal Studies (4 years) and LLB (Hons) International Legal Studies (4 years).”
The annual fee for these programmes — recognised by the Bar Council of India — is 12,420 British Pounds. The programme commences in September 2013 and the deadline to apply is May 2013. To be eligible for the scholarships, students must make University of Southampton their choice while applying through University and College Admission Service (UCAS — British admission service) and exceed minimum entry requirements by 5 per cent. The scholarships will be applied automatically and will be repeated every year, subject to students’ satisfactory performance. Students on the four-year LLB courses will be required to pay only 50 per cent of the standard fee during the third year.
Entry requirements for CBSE and ISC syllabus are set at 85 per cent and 80 per cent in Class 12, respectively. Other requirements include references, a satisfactory personal statement and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than 6.5 in any component.
