UPSEB Board Exam 2020: Flying squad to review exam centres to stop paper leak

To eradicate the probability of question paper leak from sensitive districts, Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has made it compulsory for the flying squad to examine the seal of question paper packets an hour before the beginning of board examination. At least eight teams will be set up in each district to hold several checks in each session. At the divisional level, five separate groups would be created. The squads would consist of Government Intermediate College principals, retired teachers, police personnel and district inspector of schools.

The teams will have to make sure that confidentiality is maintained by not letting the leak of papers before the commencement of the exam. They will check the question paper packets randomly in each centre. Apart from this, members of the flying squad will also describe the centre superintendents of their power as working magistrates within the boundary of the examination centre. This authority provides them with control to take action against any doubtful person or movement. The board has found that a large number of superintendents have, in the past, were unsuccessful to use the power at the critical stage due to lack of acquaintance about it.

The teams have been told to keep a check on electronic devices, too, as copying mafia has evolved with times from the tried and tested method of copying and leaking paper to hi-tech methods. The board has already enforced a complete ban on taking smartphones inside examination centres. The ban also applies to invigilators, centre superintendents and inspecting teams. This year, inspecting teams also have the added accountability of checking routers, audio devices, and CCTV cameras to make sure real-time monitoring of exams from a monitoring cell in all districts.
