The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the revised NSP framework 2026-27. Students can now get a merit and a welfare scholarship at the same time. Check the key changes below.

CBSE NSP Framework 2026-27 Revised; Students Can Now Get Merit and Welfare Scholarships TogetherNSP framework 2026-27 : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the revised NSP framework 2026-27 for students. The notice was put up on cbse.gov.in on September 22. The new rules start from Academic Year 2026-27. The biggest change is simple. A student who gets a welfare scholarship can now also get a merit scholarship. It works the other way round too.

The notice follows a Cabinet Secretariat office memo dated November 12, 2025. In 2024-25, many National Scholarship Portal forms were wrongly marked as duplicates. This happened because different kinds of student support were all called "scholarship". CBSE has asked its schools to share this update with students and parents.

Merit and Welfare Scholarships Under New NSP Rules

Every scholarship on NSP now falls into one of two groups.

NSP Application Rules Changed From 2026-27

Filling and checking forms on NSP will also work differently. The main changes are listed below.

• Details from your first form are saved and used again.

• For each new form, you only add scheme details and documents.

• If a form is marked "Defective", you can fix only the scheme details.

• To change personal or study details, you must first take back all your forms.

• Officers can see all your forms together.

• A mistake in personal or study details puts all your forms under a "Red Flag".
