Further, the government also confirmed that it also decided to not conduct its university exams for final year students in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni told a division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice S S Shinde that the State Disaster Management Committee, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, held a meeting on Tuesday i.e. June 23, 2020, where it was decided not to permit the CISCE board to conduct its ICSE 2020 and ISC 2020 exams.

Mr. Kumbhakoni also told the court that the state government cannot permit the conduct of ICSE and ISC exams from July 2, given the current pandemic situation.

According to the revised ICSE 2020 Date Sheet and ISC 2020 Date Sheet, board decided to conduct its pending examination from July 2.

Earlier the ICSE board decided to conduct its pending exams from July 2 to July 12 across the state after they could not be conducted in March due to the coronavirus outbreak. Later, a city resident Arvind Tiwari filled a petition challenging the board's decision, claiming that the number of COVID-19 cases was still on the rise.

The petitioner suggested that it would be appropriate for the Board to declare ICSE results 2020 and ISC Results 2020 based on gradation and assessment of the past performance of students in internal exams conducted by various CISCE affiliated schools.
