Mystory@Milan Modi

I enjoyed my undergraduate degree in commerce a lot. I used that time to chill with my friends, watch movies and go for night-outs. That was when I decided to take up MBA in HR, though I did not have much idea about what exactly HR is. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I took admission in MBA-HR from Mumbai. So, this is the background of my college years.

Though, when I was in college, like many students, I thought that learning is not important, today I believe that knowledge holds immense importance. It was during my college when I met some business personalities and attended internship programs that I realized the opportunities of a bright future provided by education. The basic difference between an academically inclined person and a person with no interest in studies is in their thinking. The scope of creativity & innovation for an educated person is limitless. I am working as an HR professional today and I know what I learnt during my MBA is very useful to me. During our college time, whatever knowledge I gained was theoretical, which I applied in my professional life. As the saying goes, "Experience makes a man perfect", it is completely relevant in my case. The late Steve Jobs, former CEO of Apple, is my role model, I am highly inspired by his life story. Though he faced many failures in his life, he took them in his stride and never complained about them, instead he went after them to turn them into his strengths and successes. Similarly, when I took up my career in the Human Resources team, I had no idea about the domain but my education helped me a lot.

I like public speaking and aspire to become a motivational speaker. I like to face people, interact with them, make new friends and mainly resolve their problems – the problems which may potentially prove harmful for an organization. In short, I like to handle employees and their grievances. HR is an interesting field that includes many interesting functions like handling the staff and understanding their core skills. In short, it is all about using manpower according to their ability and skills in an appropriate manner to achieve their respective goals.

I have followed the path of change and subsequently achieved many successes in life. If I look back today, I can say that I have done many things in my life which I had never expected that I would be able to achieve. At last, I would like to tell you one thing - just make your own rules to get success and give some time to yourself. Worrying never helps. Simply grab the opportunity that comes your way and I promise that you will achieve success in whatever you undertake.
