SPJIMR launches Women Manager Programme
The SP Jain Institute of Management Research (SPJIMR) has launched a unique course for women belonging to business families. This Women Manager Programme(WMP) has been designed especially for women who would like to learn and understand business concepts and are looking forward to stand on an equal footing with their male counterparts on running the family business.
WMP is a 12-month programme, which only accepts women who are above 35 years of age and have an inclination to run their own or family-owned business. The fees of the programme is two lakh rupees.
In general, Indian households prefer male family members to run their family-owned business. Traditionally, women from business families remained confined to looking after the household and their children. Once children grow up, there is a vacuum in their lives. It’s not wise to not let women get involved in business matters as that’s like wasting half the potential talent pool of the family.
With businesses becoming location-neutral, time-neutral, and gender-neutral, women can now play a larger role in family businesses. This course offered by the Family Managed Business (FMB) department of SPJIMR has been introduced to keep up with the trend of more and more women involving themselves with family businesses.
A value-added certificate programme, WMP also focuses on soft skills such as building confidence and courage, and developing appropriate attitudes and temperament. Women will also learn how to gather required knowledge to deal with subject specialists, and will broaden their perspectives on global issues and issues related to growth of businesses.
