The Aikyashree Scholarship is run by the West Bengal Minorities' Development & Finance Corporation for students of notified minority communities. It has three main parts. Pre-Matric covers Classes IX and X. Post-Matric covers Class XI to Ph.D. Merit-cum-Means covers professional and technical courses.

Aikyashree Scholarship is a state scholarship scheme of West Bengal. It is for students who belong to minority communities. The scheme is run by the West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation known as WBMDFC. There are three separate scholarships under it. Pre-Matric is for students of Classes 9 and 10. Post-Matric covers Class 11th right up to Ph.D level. Merit-cum-Means is for students in professional and technical courses. Each one has its own marks requirement and its own income limit. Students at institutes across the state can apply. This includes large public institutions like University of Calcutta. Applications are submitted online through NSP-WB portal. Aikyashree Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility is different for all three scholarships. But some conditions apply to all of them. Check below your Eligibility Criteria:

Pre-Matric Scholarship

  • Student must be studying in Class 9 or Class 10

  • Minimum 50 per cent marks in the previous examination

  • Annual family income up to INR 1 lakh

  • Student must belong from minority community

Post-Matric Scholarship

  • Student must be studying from Class 11th up to Ph.D level

  • Technical and vocational courses are also covered

  • Minimum 50 per cent marks in the previous examination

  • Annual family income up to INR 2 lakh

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

  • Student must be admitted to a professional or technical course

  • Course must be at graduation or post-graduation level

  • Institute must be located in West Bengal. It must be affiliated to a board or university under the state government

  • Minimum 50 per cent marks in the last Higher Secondary or Graduation examination

  • Annual family income up to INR 2.5 lakh

  • Students from West Bengal who study outside the state cannot apply, except at a few listed institutes

This scheme also includes students in private institutions such as Amity University Kolkata, Techno India University and Adamas University.

Students of West Bengal who belong to a notified minority community can apply. The eligible communities are Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Parsi. The student must also be studying at an institute located in West Bengal.

Q:   What is the income limit for the Aikyashree Scholarship?

The limit is different for each scholarship. Pre-Matric requires annual family income up to INR 1 lakh. Post-Matric allows up to INR 2 lakh. Merit-cum-Means allows up to INR 2.5 lakh per year.

The Pre-Matric and Post-Matric benefits cover admission and tuition fees. They also include a maintenance allowance. How much a student gets depends on the class or course. The money is sent straight to the student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer. Students whose bank account is linked to Aadhaar get the money faster. Postgraduate students at institutions like Jadavpur University apply under the Post-Matric route.

Q:   Can students studying outside West Bengal apply?
A: 

Generally the institute must be located in West Bengal. Merit-cum-Means has a narrow exception. It applies to a set of listed institutes outside the state. Pre-Matric and Post-Matric students must study within West Bengal.

Documents Required for Aikyashree Scholarship

Students should keep their documents ready before starting the form. The list below covers what is generally asked for. This can change depending on which scholarship you apply for. Check the form carefully.

Orphan applicants and those with legal guardians have separate handling for the EPIC requirement.

How to Apply for Aikyashree Scholarship 2026-27

You can apply online. Students from last year need to apply under the renewal category. First time applicants apply as fresh candidates. Follow the steps given below.

  • Open the portal www.nspwb.wbmdfc.org.

  • Go to the Students Panel section.

  • Choose fresh registration or renewal.

  • Fill in your basic details.

  • Fill in your personal information in the application form.

  • Add your academic and course details.

  • Enter your bank account details.

  • Upload the required documents.

  • Check everything before submitting.

  • Submit the form and save details.

  • Make sure your institution completes its verification.

Only one registration is allowed per active bank account number and per mobile number. Students joining courses at institutes such as Presidency University should complete the form only after admission details are final.

How to Check Aikyashree Scholarship Application Status

Here are the steps below:

  • Visit portal www.nspwb.wbmdfc.org.

  • Look for application tracking option on the homepage.

  • Select the district where your school or college is located.

  • Enter the Application ID you received at the time of registration.

  • Add your date of birth and the captcha shown on screen.

  • Submit the details to view your current status.

Your application first goes through your institution, then through the district office, before payment is cleared.

Common Mistakes to Avoid on Aikyashree Scholarship Portal

A few small mistakes often delay applications. The points below cover the most frequent ones.

  • Giving a dormant bank account.

  • Entering the wrong bank account number.

  • Name is not matching in bank account and form.

  • Missing Aadhaar bank kyc.

  • Applying for more than one government scholarship.

Students at colleges affiliated to University of Burdwan should confirm with their institute. They should check that verification has been done.
